DEVILDRIVER Writing 'Bigger, Stronger' New Material

September 19, 2008

Bassist Jon Miller of the Santa Barbara, California-based metal band DEVILDRIVER has issued the following update:

"As you all know, DEVILDRIVER has been laying low over the past couple of months... so we wanted to give you a heads-up on what has been going on over the summer of 2008 up until now.

"Upon returning from Europe in July, the band has been hard at work writing the fourth DEVILDRIVER record... as yet untitled. I have been back and forth between New York and Santa Barbara and L.A. writing the record, tracking demos at Mike's [Spreitzer, guitar] house and spending time with my loved ones.

"We currently have around 14 songs in the pot that we are working with and will have two or three more finished before we embark on our final run of 'The Last Kind Words' touring cycle.

"Yes... it will sound like DEVILDRIVER... a bigger, stronger DEVILDRIVER, and listeners will receive a record which will capture DEVILDRIVER doing what we do best.

"Record producer and recording location will be decided in these next upcoming weeks and we will keep you posted when a decision has been made.

"So please join us on our upcoming US headliner with SNOT, STRAIGHT LINE STITCH and ROSENGAURD, starting October 15th. You can buy me a beer."

DEVILDRIVER drummer John Boecklin sat out the band's appearance at the one-day Ozzfest in early August due to the fact that he was getting married the next day. Filling in for Boecklin at Ozzfest was DAATH's Kevin Talley, who has previously recorded and/or toured with DYING FETUS, CHIMAIRA, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, THE RED CHORD, HATE ETERNAL, M.O.D., MISERY INDEX and SUFFOCATION.

DEVILDRIVER's current studio album, "The Last Kind Words", sold a little more than 14,000 copies during its first week of release to debut at No. 48 on The Billboard 200 chart. This figure represented around a 40 percent increase over the opening-week number of 2005's "The Fury of Our Maker's Hand", which premiered at No. 177 with sales of 10,400.
